Hello! I'm a trucker who enjoys playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 (ETS2) and American Truck Simulator (ATS).
My trusty DUALSHOCK 4 wireless controller, which has served me well for a long time, recently started having issues with its connection port. Eventually, it became unusable, forcing me to look for a new game controller.

ETS2/ATS User's Controller Switch Review: From DualShock 4 to the GameSir G7 HE Wired Controller! |
While searching primarily for Xbox-compatible controllers, I came across the GameSir G7 HE Xbox Wired Controller, which seemed to offer both good value and performance, so I decided to purchase it.
Today, I want to share my honest first impressions and user review after switching from the DualShock 4 to the GameSir G7 HE.
Grip Feel and Stick Sensitivity: Differences from the DualShock 4
The first thing I noticed when holding the GameSir G7 HE was its distinctly different grip feel compared to the DualShock 4.
If you're not used to the Xbox controller layout, it might feel a bit awkward at first, but the way it fits in the hand is quite satisfying.
However, the most crucial aspect for ETS2/ATS gameplay is arguably the stick sensitivity!
The GameSir G7 HE's sticks felt a bit more sensitive than the DualShock 4's. Because of this, initially, I had some difficulty maintaining steady steering, especially during cornering sections that require precise handling. It seems a little adaptation time is needed to get used to the fine adjustments.
Stability and Satisfaction of a Wired Controller
Although I had to temporarily set aside the familiarity and wireless convenience of the DualShock 4, the GameSir G7 HE, being a wired controller, offers a clear advantage in terms of connection stability.
The ability to fully concentrate on the game without worrying about sudden disconnections or battery life is very appealing.
While I'm still in the process of adapting to the new controller, my overall satisfaction is very high. Along with the freshness of new gear, I have high expectations for its performance in future ETS2/ATS sessions.
Conclusion: A New Choice for ETS2/ATS, the GameSir G7 HE
The GameSir G7 HE Xbox Wired Controller, chosen due to the sudden failure of my DualShock 4.
While it requires a brief adaptation period due to the different grip and sensitive sticks, its stable connection and satisfying performance make it seem like a great alternative for users who enjoy truck simulation games like ETS2 and ATS.
I hope this review is somewhat helpful to those who, like me, are considering a controller switch or were curious about the GameSir G7 HE!
